Over 6,000 tons of textile waste were collected from TexCycle clothing containers in Bulgaria

Once in the textile waste container, the garment arrives at a sorting center where over 300 people work to examine and sort each garment.

The goal is really to get everything that’s reusable to somewhere it could be used. That part of the textile materials, which is not suitable for reuse, goes through another stage of sorting – by material, by color, by the way the fabric is made, so that the maximum part of this waste can be recycled.

And recycling happens either as cotton rag production or mechanical recycling, in which textiles are turned into secondary fibers that can be used for both new threads and nonwoven products, Zheleva said.
